Tips for a Smooth Holiday Season

With the holiday season in full swing, we know times can get busy and schedules are ever changing. Here are some tips to ensure that both nannies and families have a smooth and enjoyable holiday season!

1. Communicate the children's school schedule and your work schedule to your nanny as soon as possible. Giving them a modified schedule as soon as you can will allow them to plan their holiday season accordingly. Remember, your nanny might want to enjoy time to themselves or with their families and need time to plan these things! This will also help your nanny to anticipate your expectations and needs for the holiday season so that you don’t end up disappointed! The further in advance they get your schedule, the smoother the holiday season can be for everyone!

2. Talk with your older children about changing routines and what you expect from them! Changing routines can be hard on children, as we all know, so open communication is always the best! With school being on break and changing work schedules, let your children know what changes are coming to their routines and what you and your nanny expect out of them during this time. For your younger kiddos, be patient with them! Holidays are exciting and can be overwhelming for your younger kiddos. Try to make sure they are on as much of a schedule as they can be, and give them a little more grace this season. This will allow the nanny and children to be aware of all expectations and ensure things will run as smoothly as they can!

3. Collaborate with your nanny and create a schedule that works best for everyone and let the kids know what to expect. Like we said before, your nanny has a life too! Work together with them to create a schedule that will work best for all parties involved! You want to make sure that everyone’s time is being respected and everyone is aware of the upcoming change in schedules! This will also allow the nanny to plan fun holiday themed activities for the children. Whether you as a nanny want to take the children on an outing or do holiday crafts at home, setting a schedule in advance will help you make the most of this holiday season!

4. Plan fun activities to keep the children entertained and excited about the holiday season!

There are so many fun, kid friendly activities to do in Nashville!

Here are a few:

Visit the Opryland Hotel and take the children to the Ice! Featuring the Polar Express exhibit.

Visit the Dancing Lights of Christmas at the Wilson County Fairgrounds! Drive the fairgrounds and wow the kids with the amazing light show!

Visit the Holiday Lights at Cheekwood. These beautiful light displays are sure to be fun for both adults and children!

Your nanny and children will appreciate a smooth holiday season this year! When everything is lined out in advance, there is so much more room for fun! In addition to exciting activities out of the house, you can also do arts & crafts with the children at home, as well as watching holiday movies and breaking out yummy holiday treats! These simple tips can keep the home running smoothly and keep your kiddos and nanny happy!
